A successfull B-Corp certification

We are proud to announce EcoloPharm is now a B-Corp certified corporation. We’re thrilled to share this news and wish to explain the significance.

B Corps commit to creating sustainable value by meeting the highest standards of social and environmental impact and this sustainability is an integral part of our value proposition.

Create sustainable value

In 2009, we made it our company mission to "change the world" of pharmacy by offering the most eco-friendly pharmacy packaging solutions. Since then, we were deeply engaged in a rigorous ecodesign process where each of our solutions generates the lowest environmental footprint possible.

EcoloPharm first developped Ecolo-Vial, the only ecodesigned vial for prescription drugs. Our ecodesign efforts have been formally recognized with Novae awards in 2012 and 2014. In 2018, we proudly received the ECOresponsible certification– Ecodesigned packaging issued by the Council for Sustainable Industries (CID).

This certification allowed us to better distinguish ourselves amongst our customers and business partners and paved the natural continuum for us to attain our B-Corp certification.

What is a B-Corp?

B Corporations are different by nature and as a result, their business practices benefit society as a whole. The “B” stands for “beneficial”. Certified B Corporations are for-profit companies that are committed by considering the impact their actions have on society and environment. They use the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. It’s a relatively new category in the corporate world and one that is growing in popularity.

This movement of people using business as a force for good has exploded since B Corps certification was launched a decade ago. Over 2,500 companies are now certified as B Corps in more than 50 countries. Theses companies distinguish themselves as leaders by meeting the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

EcoloPharm joins leaders such as Patagonia, Ben & Jerry's, Danone North America, Beau’s Brewery, and many others who are working to create sustainable value for the community and the environment.

Canadian-B-Corps

B Corp Certification is a highly selective status. The Certification process uses credible, comprehensive, transparent, and independent standards of social and environmental performance.  B Corp Certification is based on three essential pillars. It's the combination that makes it unique, credible and significant.

Verified performance

Verified performance ensures that B Corps walk the talk. To meet the performance requirement, a company must earn a minimum, verified score of 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, which examines a company’s overall impact on their employees, their community, their customers and the environment.

Transparency

Transparency builds trust. Once certified, each B Corp must make their B Impact Report transparent on bcorporation.net, allowing the public to see the areas in which specific companies excel and compare B Corps’ scores against the performance of mainstream businesses.

Social and environmental accountability

B Corps commit to amend their governance so that they can make decisions and implement practices that consider the impact on social and environmental effects of their operations responsibly and in line with public expectations.
